Every musical artiste across the globe has got a music genre as to which he/she can easily be recognized and categorised with. Many are those who even end up deviating from the genres they choose for themselves which sometimes causes confusion in awards schemes.
Burniton Music Group Record Label‘s “BhimNation” new act, Kelvyn Boy, is undoubtedly one of the very few underground artiste that rose to the limelight in a very sudden and unique way after journeying around the scenes with Stonebwoy which gave him some mileage to strive on his own.
He is undeniably good at what he does and performing with the live band is just a peanut for him since that was what he started building himself and brand with. His 1st single “Toffee” which featured AMG Medikal boosted his prowess as an act and since then he has been making some good listening songs. He tags and sees himself as an “Afro Beat/Afro Pop” artiste but the ever controversial and CEO of Slip Music Mark Okraku Mantey thinks otherwise.
Speaking to Andy Dosty, Mark Okraku revealed he does not think Bhim Nation signee Kelvyn Boy has an identity when it comes to music. Elaborating on that he said he is only making that assertion because most musicians start with a particular genre before they finally find their true music genre identity and build on it, an example is HighGrade Boss/Dancehall Legend Samini who started off as a highlife artiste but found his identity as a dancehall/reggae artitse and built on it which has made him a legend today.
Thus he advised the BhimNation act to find his identity and stick to it to elevate him to greatness and higher height.
