Born Michael Owusu Smith but widely known as Dj Mic Smith AkA “The Shutdown King” is an event, club, radio, mixtape and artist Dj who have combed every corner in relation to his magnificent Djing skills.
Speaking in an interview he narrated how him becoming a Dj just cropped up in his face as a do and survive or reject and starve affair. Spoke about how he was combing the whole streets of Accra with nothing to do and only ended up as an errand boy at Yfm, that was where the opportunity came for him to either take up the on trial Dj job or reject it.
He said “I didn’t know what to do that very instant because I had no idea nor skill about Djing and was supposed to start that very evening to a large listening audience”
Further narrated how he had to call up 1 or 2 Dj friends to enlighten him as to how to go about it and at the long run played the show and the response was good which got him a stable job at Yfm from 2007 but unfortunately got sacked due to an undisclosed situation.
I surprisingly got employed by Reggie Rockstone the very day I got sacked to be a club Dj at “The Rockstone’s Office” he said. He’s over the years worked with EL‘s Bbnz Live, was Stonebwoy’s 1st official Dj, done a couple of mixtapes with known artistes, currently the official Dj for Mr. Eazi and once again back to his Alma-Mata Yfm.
